As well as some of the best walking in Turkey there are plenty of other things to do such as sailing, paragliding, diving, horse-riding, river rafting and sea-kayaking as well as one of the best spots in Europe for paragliding.
This unspoilt region offers some of the most attractive walking in Turkey. The famous Saklikent Gorge and the renowned Lycian Way & St. Peter's Trail are close by. Saklikent is particularly impressive as the largest river gorge in Turkey and can be walked for several kilometers. The Lycian Way was rated by the Sunday Times as one of the top 10 walks of the world. This is walking in Turkey at its very best!
And for those who want to head inland from the Turquoise Coast to explore the interior of ancient Lycia, many classical sites from Greek and Roman times can be found right on your doorstep, including Xanthos, Patara, Letoon, Tlos and Cadianda. Patara is especially interesting. Not only has much of the site of the ancient city of Patara been recently excavated but Patara beach itself is one of the longest - and most undeveloped white sand beaches on the whole Turquoise Coast of Turkey. Patara beach and the surrounding area is protected as one of the last remaining nesting sites for the loggerhead turtle in Turkey.
